My Closet Reveal with Classy Closets

Designing a DREAM CLOSET has truly been a DREAM, thanks to the team at Classy Closets! As long time trusted partners, I immediately began working with Sarah Owens, Closet Designer, to create the most functional and beautiful closet designs, tailored to fit our needs perfectly!

From the start, I was going for something different… different from all the closets we’ve been a part of and most closets you regularly see! A special design that could serve as home for all of the pieces I own from THELIFESTYLEDCO; a place that is inspiring to get dressed in; and even a place that turned the daunting task of packing into a boutique like place to pull looks for packing!

In our last home, my husband and I shared one verrrrrrry small walk in. It served the purpose but wasn’t glamorous or truly intuitively functional, at all.

The footprint of my closet is a long galley style, roughly 10 feet wide by 20 feet long. It features two entry points, a walk path into our gym and plenty of natural light! WFH is a weekly happening for our team and integrated into the overall design is a petite desk space with filing and storage drawers, display shelves and a 30" wide landing area for my laptop and the countless Zoom calls I’m a part of. Ample shoe and boot storage, shelves for folded items, full extension drawers, a dressing area with jewelry organizers and a frameless mirror are some of the other custom elements included in my closet design.

Just past my desk is my husband Vince's closet! It's impeccably designed keeping every usable inch in mind - with a roughly 88" wide area to utilize, there was no opportunity for useless space! In addition to many other thoughtful questions, when Sarah Owens of Classy Closets was designing our closets, she even asked Vince to go measure the length of his t-shirts when hanging to ensure they fit well, and with a bit of space at the bottom, while considering other space saving uses for this space! The unique features in Vince’s closet include pull out drawers for shoes and hats, two trays for watches and men's accessories, and shelves for sweaters.

Both of our closets have moveable clothing bars designed especially for each of our wardrobes, upper cabinet storage for less used items like seasonal staples, and personal laundry/dry cleaning hampers!

As our girls are getting older, they’re becoming more and more independent; it’s bittersweet but very exciting (and terrifying)! 

They previously shared a room which meant they also shared a closet, dresser and naturally, clothes. Now that they each have their own rooms for the very first time, it was important to me that they felt like they had enough space to display things important to both of them, while feeling inspired and comfortable in their rooms!

Each desk is complete with a large lower drawer stack that they can use for bigger items like crafts, lego or toys, chair space for homework and sky high shelving. One of the ways we personalized their desks and rooms was continuing the color paint blocking through the back of their built in desks. It’s super impactful, playful and easy for you to do at home or add to your built-ins!
