FREDERICKSBURG, TEXAS TRAVEL GUIDE: OUR TOP FIVE
Fredericksburg, Texas -- we didn’t think we’d love you as much as we do, but BOY were we wrong! Coming from Arizona, we didn’t exactly know what to expect when touching down in this lil’ town, but it introduced us to architecture we’ve never seen before, new foods, and SO much more!
With that being said, we wanted to share our “Top Fives” while visiting the states on the LCO Southern Tour, and what better way to do that than on The BLG?! If you ever find yourself in Fredericksburg or have a trip planned there, we highly recommend these places (trust us!)
1- THE BARN AT SWALLOW'S EVE
If you’re still on the search for the perfect wedding or event destination, this is your sign to stop looking! Swallow’s Eve is located on 35 acres and has a BEAUTIFUL 6,000 square foot barn on site! There are multiple ceremony and event sites at this venue, so we PROMISE you it won’t be difficult to decide on which space fits your event best!
THE BARN
This luxury, Texan barn was custom built for weddings! It includes a Bridal Suite, a Groom’s Loft, and an adjoining bar room!
You can’t get any better than a space that has both Texas charm and modern amenities!
OPEN AIR CHAPEL
You’ll find this beautiful area behind the barn in the distance! A winding path leads you right to it, where you’ll find a stunning architectural backdrop amongst the trees… You may even find a few deer roaming around!
BACK TERRACE
Located in the space directly behind the barn is the back terrace venue! It’s subtly lit with overhead bistro lights and serves as a large stage deck overlooking the landscape in the distance! This site is perfect as it is, but it’s getting a glow-up this year…
The plan is to create more of a sleek and timeless look to it!
FIRESIDE COURTYARD
A venue with a HANDMADE fireplace?! Count us in! Along with that, you’re surrounded by gorgeous oak trees and can hear the relaxing sounds of a built-in fountain! Plan your ceremony here or even a casual happy hour… Either way, it’s the perfect place to enjoy the day with the people that matter to you the most!

VERANDA
This is the perfect space to take your guests for a cocktail hour after your ceremony! You have a view of the Fireside Courtyard and admire all its beauty while enjoying the colder winter nights/warmer summer nights!
THE FRONT DOORS
The front doors of the barn look just like the cover image of a postcard! About 200 guests can be seated here, and when dropped off, they’re already pretty much at their seats! This is one of the most unique locations at Swallow’s Eve!
2- THE LODGE ABOVE TOWN CREEK

Our team stayed at The Lodge Above Town Creek while in town working on our #HotAndDirtyHouse! We had never been to Fredericksburg before, and we were SO impressed with the hospitality, the location, the cleanliness, and the overall experience! Between the design meetings and on-site visits, we were still able to take in everything the lodge had to offer!
This is the sister property of Swallow’s Eve, and it’s located only one block from Main Street! The lodge offers 16 suites for guests, and also doubles as a mid-size venue for any gathering up to 40 people! It includes a BEAUTIFUL fireside patio which overlooks Fredericksburg’s town creek, and a pool located right in the middle of the property!

One of the best (and most memorable) parts about The Lodge Above Town Creek are the breakfast baskets that are delivered right to the door of your suite EVERY morning!
The smaller sister property is The Inn Above Town Creek! While the lodge can accommodate up to 40 guests on their property, the inn can accommodate anywhere from 2-25 guests! This space features a 400-year-old LIVE oak tree and a unique well that the original owners used on a regular basis! The inn only has six suites available to stay in, but that allows for the guests to have as much privacy as they please!
3- LA BERGERIE

We couldn’t come to Texas without having a litttttle bit to drink, right?! While walking to dinner, we came across this artisanal wine bar/small town grocer and knew right away that we had to stop in! What set this adorable place apart from other wine bars was the fact that you can only get their fine wines, unique items, and the cheese/charcuterie at La Bergerie ONLY!
The owners want to offer “a sense of place and excitement” to everyone who steps in those doors, so they didn’t believe having a delivery option for their products would be necessary!
4- TUBBY'S ICE HOUSE AND OTTO'S GERMAN BISTRO
We still have dreams about these two dining spots… no joke! As soon as we jumped off the plane when landing in Texas, we went to the most mouth-watering New American restaurant called Tubby’s Ice House! We’re suckers for a good marg and tacos, but this place exceeded our expectations! With it being a smaller spot, we didn’t expect them to have a lot of food options (considering some of us are vegan, gluten free, etc.), but we were wrong! If there were no other places to eat at in Fredericksburg, we wouldn’t have minded one bit!
We also dined at Otto’s German Bistro for dinner, and they introduced us to different kinds of tastes! They focus on sourcing their items from independent farms and ranches, and the drinks they serve fully reflect how much they love German and Austrian wines, craft beers, and unique cocktails! You may be wondering how we came up with the clever hashtag “#HotAndDirtyHouse” for our up and coming project, and we owe it all to the experience we had at Otto’s! We were acquainted with the Hot and Dirty Martini, which you can read more about in our Southern Tour Blog Post!

5- FISHER & WIESER'S DAS PEACH HAUS

Before even going to Texas, we had this at the top of our list of “go-sees”! Founded in 1969, Das Peach Haus first started out as a roadside fruit stand built out of logs from an 1870 German cabin, which absolutely blows our mind! Fast forward to now, it’s known to have the best locally harvested peaches! In fact, Fredericksburg orchards produce 40% of all Texas peaches!
Mark Wieser and Case Fischer continued to grow peaches throughout the years, but they thought they could do even MORE! They noticed how happy it made customers to purchase the fruit and the samples of jams and jellies they offered, so they created Fischer & Wieser’s Specialty Foods, which includes making and selling over 150 products around the world!
Das Peach Haus was our last stop before leaving town and heading to our next out-of-state project! We were able to walk around the shop, look at all of the items they sold, purchase a bottle of peach moscato, and enjoy a glass of it by the peach-shaped lake located behind the shop! It was the perfect way to end our trip and relax before hopping on another plane!
